A mission starts, the horn sounds, and you’re suddenly on a strict budget of time, ammo, and attention. That’s the point of Operation Disarmed: a real-cap airsoft milsim event where the objective matters more than the gunfight, and sloppy shooting costs your whole team. We’re sharing the full “meat and potatoes” breakdown so you know exactly what makes this format different from typical Ontario airsoft events and why it has been such a strong change of pace for players who want realism without the chaos.

We walk through the story premise of two special forces factions operating without their commanders, guided only by intelligence officers who receive mission briefs from game control and release key details in pieces. That structure forces real planning, real communication, and real teamwork. You’ll hear concrete mission examples like defending a convoy while a disabled vehicle gets repaired and deploying working electronic sensors to track enemy routes. Add vehicles, props, and time pressure, and you get gameplay that rewards problem-solving and disciplined execution instead of wandering the field hoping to stumble into a firefight.

Then we get into the rules that shape everything: real-cap ammo limits, no reloading during mission windows, multiple refs and ghost refs enforcing compliance, and unique mechanics like yellow smoke rewards that can wipe a group unless you’re running a gas mask. We also cover tag rounds for vehicles, mobile spawn flags, lower player counts for a special operations feel, night play with nods, and locked comms so you can’t listen in on the other side. We even clear up the rumor that GBBR is required because AEGs are absolutely fine if you load correctly.

Subscribe for more event breakdowns, share this with your squad, and leave a review if you want more mission-focused airsoft content. What part of Operation Disarmed would challenge you most: planning, comms, or ammo discipline?

Alright, and welcome to this mini episode on the Airsoft experience. I am Callsign Magic and this is the Airsoft Experience. I basically want to touch base with the community about a newer event. We've uh ran it once last year. It was a pretty successful event. It's completely different than uh anything that's going on in the community on the Ontario side. I find it does happen a lot um with our friends in the uh French regions. But what we're trying to do here is give the community some variation in uh events so things don't go stale. So let's get right into what is Operation DisAM. Basically, the storyline and the premise behind Disarmed is you have two factions, they're special forces, and they're in, they're sent in to take care of uh certain mission sets on their way into the AO. Most of their team uh crashes and helicopter crashes, including their command elements. The only uh the only two leads left are intelligence officers who have snippets of intelligence uh related to upcoming missions. So basically, both factions are competing in the same mission set, uh, which are directly related to each other, and they have to figure out a game plan amongst themselves with the crews that they have and execute that plan diligently uh with very limited ammo and very limited time uh depending on the mission set. So that being said, an intelligence officer. An intelligence officer is basically a person that is put on both factions that is given a mission breakdown from uh game control, and they release certain points of that information, and the faction is required to put their heads together and come up with a game plan to execute that mission. Very, very simple. Um, a horn will blow, and that'll be the start of the mission. And when a secondary horn goes, that'll be the end of the mission. It's pretty straightforward. Each mission will be uh different timing based on the complexity of the mission, and we try to incorporate real-world situations. So, some examples last year there was a three-vehicle convoy that was uh going down a road, and the main vehicle uh broke down. So the one faction would have to bring in mechanics, safely get them to the zone so that way they could do the repair. And the repair, I think, was a 45-minute or an hour repair. So they needed to hold that convoy position for an hour until the vehicle was repaired, and uh then they could move to their X-Fill point. So that's an example of one mission. Uh, another example, there was um electronic sensors, uh like working electronic sensors that one faction would have to go and set up at different routes that they thought that the enemy would be taking, um, make sure that the technology is active and then track enemy movements using that technology. So these are the types of missions that we write up and put into this event to try to uh push people's limits on creativity, on planning and execution of these missions. So, that being said, there will be vehicles in this game, and when I say that, there will be some vehicles that are armored, mostly uh just civilian vehicles that are used for transporting certain props or people uh to complete certain missions. The average time of a mission is probably an hour and a half, uh all the way up to three hours, depending again on the complexity of the mission. So with your reload time, which is from when the horn goes off to the secondary horn, you only have the ammo that you have on you. So uh if you go to the rules, you're carrying about 350 rounds uh total. So it's about 10 megs with 35 in. If you're uh if you're a regular gunner, um, I know that seems unrealistic uh in the airsoft end, but that's what they're dealing with in the real-world uh theater of war. And uh we want to try to replicate this. It just means that you need to plan your assaults uh properly and plan your ammo usage properly, and definitely work as a team and shoot at stuff that you can hit. So if you're not a very good shot, um this event will still be for you. It'll force you to be a better shot. Pretty much every uh weapon system has been covered. Uh each has their their limitations for ammo. And you can't reload on the field or anything like that. So you carry what you have and uh you try to complete your mission uh with what you're carrying. Pretty straightforward on that. There will be a multitude of refs, including ghost refs, that will be checking your ammo, will be checking and making sure that you're following the rules. This is uh a game where we really want people to um put the effort into following the ammo cap because it's very easy for a ref to hear you in an engagement and know that you're well beyond 35 rounds and haven't changed a meg. So the guys that will be watching um are avid uh Milsen players and they know exactly what they're looking for. So it's probably not in your best interest to try to cheat and ruin the game for everybody else. One specific factor in our event is the yellow smoke. So yellow smoke is handed out for uh cool you know moments in the game, outstanding sportsmanship, uh, cool planning, stuff like that. That yellow smoke is essentially a way to take out a mass group of of enemy soldiers. Uh, if the yellow smoke is anywhere near that area, those people succumb to the smoke and uh have to return to either a respawn flag or their CP. That being said, a lot of the uh the Gucci Kick guys rock their uh their gas masks, which is completely allowed in this event. And if you are wearing a gas mask, the yellow smoke obviously does nothing for you or to you. Uh, so that's something that we added into it to uh add a little bit of realism. So a lot of people do message me about uh commanders. Like I said before, your commanders are dead. You guys are sent into a mission, uh, you're on multiple helicopters. Their helicopter was unfortunately RPG'd, it hit the ground and everybody died. It's a sad day. Uh, your buddies are gone, but you need to gather up the rest of your SOF squad and get the job done with the manpower and the intel that you have. So there will be some natural leaders that uh tend to step forward and uh come up with game plans that everybody is on the same page for. And it was really, really awesome to watch uh last year when we debuted this event series. Tag rounds are a go. You can eliminate vehicles, uh, three-hit rule anywhere. There will be uh an up armored vehicle that can be used by players on factions if it's sitting there, um, unmanned, or a part of a detail that's rolling with a convoy or something like that. So we will provide that for the players. Uh what else we got? Metacruels, basic meta cruels. Um, the only difference I guess we have in this event is because of the limited ammo and some of the distances that you need to be traveling uh to different parts of the field. We do allow uh mobile spawn, which is a light fighter branded flag that is carried by a member and then put into the ground. When it is in the ground standing up, it can be used. The enemy can knock it over. Um, once it's knocked over, it has to go back to your CP and restart. We basically uh felt as a team that we needed to add another area uh for respawn because we tend to keep the numbers pretty low at these events um because we want to try to keep it as real as possible. Um so yeah, we we aim at you know roughly 60 to 100 players probably max for this event, um, just to try to keep things streamlined and uh mission focused. And when I say mission focused, basically what I mean is you're not gonna go around just willy-nilly trying to find a gunfight because the other faction is solely working on that mission. So there's no need to uh you know just wander around. Your faction will come up with a game plan to uh go against that other faction and complete the mission, and whoever completes the mission first gets the point. And if they complete the mission before the time period, the horn will blow. There'll be a reset period where you go back to your CP. It's usually around 30 minutes uh in between missions, uh, where you can rebomb, get back up to your 350 rounds, uh get some uh water into you, maybe a snack, and then the horn will go um for the second mission after your Intel officers have given you the information you need to come up with a game plan. So we wanted to give uh you about 30 minutes in between events so you can come up with a game plan. When the horn ends, the new mission set will be available immediately uh so you can start planning uh right away your CPs. Basically, everything in this event is based on the mission. Like I said before, the only thing that matters is completing the mission together as a team before the horn blows. It's a pretty simple uh premise. There will be props involved for certain missions, electronics, stuff like that. And yeah, it's straightforward, real life-based Milsom that I think that can draw to you know more seasons play seasoned players, but new players as well. Like if you're just getting into this, there is a rumor or a stigma going around this game that GBBR is the only thing that you can use for this event, which is false. You definitely can use an AEG. You just need to make sure you only load the appropriate amount per meg uh based on whatever class of firearm you're or whatever class of airsoft replica you're using. So just to clear it up, AEGs are fine. Nobody's gonna say anything about you using an AEG. Multiple AEGs were used last time. The event went really, really well. Uh we didn't have any issues, and things were great. Uh grenades are a go. You can use uh the tag and series grenades that are approved by the field and approved by Life Fighter Milsom. And tag launchables are also allowed to be used. If they're 3D printed, they need to be uh approved by Game Staff prior to the event starting. Everybody will be chronoed, that is a given. Uh proper iPro. Make sure you have kill light, kill rag, and your TQ or a bandage of some sort. This event does go into the night. There will be nod play. Um we basically have a set number of missions, and when those missions are completed, the game ends. Uh so it it pretty much goes uh as fast as you can complete the mission is is basically when the event ends at the last mission. Communications for this mission, these missions, they'll be locked comms. You're not going to be able to listen to enemy comms. Each side has their own set of frequencies. Uh, so communication can be set up. We'll have a little bit of extra time before the first mission to make sure everybody's on the same page and there's no uh communication breakdown or anything like that during the event. You're not going to be with a massive faction of people. Like uh we said before, it's a special forces type event, and you basically are working with uh smaller fire teams uh against other fire small uh other smaller fire teams to uh to accomplish the mission. So if you guys have any questions, please uh feel free to reach out to Magic. Uh any of the light fighters, uh you can reach out to uh the Airsoft Experience with your questions, um, anything like that. I just wanted to get on here and do a quick breakdown of what Disarmed actually is. It's it's basically a real cap event based on real life missions, and uh we just have a bunch of fun putting it on and and a bunch of players have fun playing it. So let's let's keep this event alive and let's keep going. It is Sunday, March 15th, uh, when I recorded this right now. We just added more tickets to the event right now that are live on www.lightfightermilsonproductions.ca. That being said, it is March 15th, and vehicle registration is now live for Operation Gunrunner, which is uh June 27th at the compound, and Operation Disarmed is May 30th at the compound. So that'll be Light Fighter's first event of the year. And we're looking forward to uh to putting it on for you guys. So yeah, that's that's it. It's the meat and potatoes of uh Operation Disarmed. Hope to see you guys out there, and uh yeah, let's be safe and let's have a great time. Cheers.
